My first Atlantic Crossing has started a lot faster than I expected, so much so that I haven’t finished posting about my Adriatic Cruise from 2024, will have to get back to that one later!

I am back onboard Regent for this cruise, this time on the Seven Seas Splendor.

The Map
Other Firsts For Me
In addition to being my first Atlantic Crossing, this will be my first real visit to Brazil, including a few days in Rio before I board the Seven Seas Splendor. It will also be the first time I have visited Cape Verde, Tenerife and Lanzarote.
Whilst in Tenerife and Lanzarote I am also hoping to visit some fairly unique wineries, oh and to checkout what else they have to offer.
It will also be my first time on Seven Seas Splendor which is also the newest cruise ship I have sailed on.
Atlantic Crossing In March
The Atlantic Ocean in March should be fairly uneventful, but it is the Atlantic so these could become infamous words. I can’t wait!
But first Rio!

Cheers!
2024 Day 4 – Sibenik Croatia

Next up was Sibenik, Šibenik, Croatia. Another of the picturesque seaside towns along the coast of Croatia. Sibenik is also one of the ports that we would be revisiting on our return leg to Venice.

Sibenik is a town of around 30k inhabitants that was founded by Slavs and not the Greeks or Romans. To get to Sibenik from the Adriatic Sea you need to sail through Saint Anthony’s Channel which is narrow enough that it has traffic lights for the larger vessels.
For more2024 Day 3 – Zadar Croatia

Our second port of call was Zadar, Croatia. WoW what a place. Unfortunately we only had one day here.

The Tour
Azamara usually has a couple of interesting tours on offer in each port and the one that took my eye was the Royal Vineyards & Nin Salt Plains tour. Though our itinerary was different to the one described below. We started in Zadar, then the Solana Nin, Nin and then the Royal Vineyards before heading back to the ship.

2024 Day 2 – Opatija Croatia

Our first port of call was Opatija, Croatia.

Opatija is a resort town in the northwest of Croatia and is home to around 11,000 people.
Tendering

As Opatija is a very small town it does not have port facilities big enough to handle the Azamara Pursuit. Time for tendering. Thankfully Azamara Pursuit is a not a large ship so getting a tender does not take much time and effort.

Pre-Dinner Drinks
First up an extra spicy Bloody Maria, tequila instead of vodka, from the pool bar. The first significant improvement this cruise is that I did not have any issues with my drinks packages, it was nice to be able to sit back and relax after the “fun” associated with our transfer from Venice.
After the sail away from Chioggia, it was to time continue our checking of the bar tending skills of the crew… This time in the Living Room, a dry Gin Martini followed by Espresso Martinis.
So far so good! -:) I think I will survive the trip.
