It was beautiful morning for our arrival in Lisbon, clear skies and a great sunrise.

Unfortunately this would be my last morning on board the RSS Splendor and the end of my first Atlantic Crossing. Looking forward to doing another crossing soonish.
Arrival in Lisbon
I was glad that I woke up early so that I got experience a morning arrival in Lisbon. Especially on a day like the one we arrived on. Definitely the golden hour.

Convent Square Lisbon
I had one night in Lisbon and decided to stay at a hotel in the “center” of Lisbon, the Convent Square. According some of my so call “friends”, more acquaintances I think, this was a more than apt spot for me to stay.
They started building the place in the 13th Century, it is one street / lane back from the main square in the Baixa neighbourhood. The fit-out as a hotel is very good, though there are lots of stairs to negotiate once you leave the lifts to get to some of the suites. It is an old building after all.
Surprisingly it is quiet inside considering how close to the action it is. One thing to note is that there is a 50m walk from the taxi drop off point to the entrance, though you can ask for help from the hotel porters.

The bar / restaurant on the ground floor is pretty good. Definitely a nice place for a quick bite and a nightcap.

My lunch…
And my nightcap, well caps…
Next up is the tour that we did with the amazing Sonia.
BTW, I really liked my short stay in the Convent, so much so will be staying there again in 2026.
