Our next port of call was Maceió, Brazil. Maceió is the capital of Alagoas, Brazil, and is home to around 1 million people.

Maceió gets it’s name from the numerous maceiós, springs, in the region. The state of Alagoas also gets it name from water features, lakes which are fed by the numerous springs. Lagoas is the Portuguese word for a lake.
Arrival
Looks like another beautiful day in Brazil, though it is going to be a warm one, 31C (87F).

Today’s Tour (Well Wander)
We decided not to do a tour today and just wander along the Maceió beachfront after a free bus transfer to the Pavilhão do Artesanato, the local Crafts Pavilion.
FYI, most local tourist boards will provide a bus to transfer service for passengers. The catch is that you will usually get dropped at a market filled with souvenirs and local product stalls. Thankfully most of these markets are in the middle of or near the areas you would want to visit anyway.
Maceió Beachfront
Similar to the beachfront in Rio, there are plenty of bike paths, bars and restaurants.
A nice spot to enjoy a day or three just watching the world go by.
Restaurante Janga Praia
As we had plenty of time before we needed to be onboard we decided to have some lunch. There were quite a few restaurants to chose from along the beach front after wandering past a few Churrascaria Restaurants, basically all you can eat Brazilian Barbeque, we decided to give Restaurante Janga Praia a go.
The menu looked good, though the air-con is what probably won the day.
- Special French Fries – French fries topped with special sauce, prawns and crispy bacon, gratin with mozzarella cheese.
- Shrimp Jangadeiro – Shrimps breaded with macaxeira pasta and a touch of Parmesan cheese, stuffed with Catupiry and served with garlic sauce
- Shrimp Breaded with Sesame – Shrimps breaded and covered with sesame, served with pepper jam
Great meal and service from Filipe and Melo. Would like to try other restaurants in their group if I was in Maceio again.
Sunset
As our departure was a bit later than usual, I was able to enjoy the sunset from my balcony. An appropriate end to a nice day in Maceió.
Dinner
We were in Maceió on 17 Mar 2025 which was Saint Patrick’s Day, so dinner and drinks were Irish themed.

Baileys Irish Cream, Crème de Menthe, Vodka, Half and Half
One was more than enough!
What better to cleanse the palate after the Mint Martini than an Aviation Gin Martini.

Dinner tonight was in Sette Mari who went all out with the St Pat’s theme.

Tomorrow will be our last day in Brazil, our next port is Recife
