Below are my notes on the second batch of wines that I have been lucky enough to taste so far in April 2016. What have you been tasting?

2	Name: Calera Vintage: 2011 Region: Mt Harlan, California, USA Varietal: Chardonnay Alcohol: 14.4% Colour: Deep bright gold Aroma: A fragrant mix of peach, apricot, with hints of French oak and flint aromas Palate: Balanced, smooth Finish: Short Comment: An enjoyable Californian Chardonnay. Drinking ok now, IMHO it has passed its peak.
3	Name: Bindi Quartz Vintage: 2010 Region: Macedon Ranges, Victoria, Australia Varietal: Chardonnay Alcohol: 14% Colour: Pale green straw, starting to yellow Aroma: Lush combination of lemon, citrus, flint and oak aromas Palate: Fresh, vibrant and balanced with layers of citrus and minerality Finish: Long Comment: A great wine, bold for a Chardonnay. Recommend trying this wine, IMHO it still has a number of years until it reaches its peak. Great finish!
4	Name: Joh. Jos. Prüm Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese Vintage: 2008 Region: Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany Varietal: Riesling Alcohol: 7.5% Colour: Golden straw Aroma: Fragrant mixture of lychee, passionfruit and vanilla aromas Palate: Enjoyable contrast of acid and sweetness Finish: Long Comment: I like this style of wine and enjoyed this wine, but we should have known better and left it until the dessert or cheese course as it does overpower the palate, needed to cleanse the palate afterwards. Recommend this wine to anyone who enjoys a German Riesling.
5	Name: Lindeman's Bin 8070 White Burgundy Vintage: 1992 Region: Hunter River, New South Wales, Australia Varietal: Sémillon Alcohol: Colour: Deep bright gold Aroma: Bouquet of peach, citrus, toast and honey aromas Palate: Fresh, complex, toasty, elegant Finish: Long Comment: I am big fan of aged Sémillon and this wine reminded me why. Still fresh with the aged Sémillon characteristics of toast and honey evident Australia is no longer allowed to use a number of protected style descriptors like White Burgundy, this was "outlawed" in March 1994, agreed to in 1993. Australia started to use varietal and geographic descriptors for all wines from that point.
6	Name: Moorilla Muse Vintage: 2013 Region: Tasmania, Australia Varietal: Pinot Noir Alcohol: 13.6% Colour: Bright crimson Aroma: Restrained combo of plum, red cherry with hints of almond aromas Palate: Medium - bodied, lots of fruit, but not overpoweringly so Tannin: Savoury Finish: Medium Comment: A good wine that is drinking well now but, IMHO, needs a few more years to reach its peak. Worth a look. The restrained nose was probably because the bottle was over-chilled, unfortunately there was not a chance to give it a second look as it was consumed very quickly.
7	Name: Château le bon Pasteur Vintage: 2006 Region: Pomeral, Bordeaux, France Varietal: 90% Merlot 10% Cabernet Franc Alcohol: 13% Colour: Deep ruby Aroma: Pleasant mix of black cherry, mocha and liquorice aromas Palate: Full-bodied, dry mouth-feel Tannin: Firm Finish: Long Comment: IMHO a good wine not a great wine, I liked the long finish.
8	Name: Château Fleur Cardinale Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé Vintage: 2005 Region: St.-Émilion, Bordeaux, France Varietal: 70% Merlot 15% Cabernet Franc 15% Cabernet Sauvignon Alcohol: % Colour: Deep ruby Aroma: Fragrant mix of black cherry, blackberry, mocha and liquorice aromas Palate: Full-bodied with a smooth mouth-feel with a dark chocolate after taste Tannin: Silky Finish: Long Comment: A very good wine, IMHO this vintage is either near to or is hitting its peak now. Definitely one to try now!
9	Name: Château Boyd-Cantenac Margaux Grand Cru Classé Vintage: 2000 Region: Margaux, Bordeaux , France Varietal: 67% Cabernet Sauvignon 20% Merlot, the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot Alcohol: % Colour: Deep ruby Aroma: Combination of blackberry and cedar aromas Palate: Medium-bodied, complex Tannin: Savoury Finish: Long Comment: Enjoyable, some elegance and complexity, would welcome the opportunity to taste this again.
10	Name: Bouchard Finlayson Hannibal Vintage: 2013 Region: Walker Bay, South Africa Varietal: 52% Sangiovese, 17% Pinot Noir, 15% Nebbiolo, 8% Mourvedre, 6% Shiraz and 2% Barbera Alcohol: 14.56% Colour: Deep ruby Aroma: Red fruit, game, slight black pepper aromas Flavour: Full-bodied, red fruit, cherries and spice Tannins: Fine Finish: Long Comment: Second time I have been lucky enough to taste this, enjoyed how the wine maker was able to balance all of the different varietals so that characteristics of each varietal can be easily identified.
